The exchange was set up in 2008 as part of a new initiative created by our Curriculum Area Leader for Modern Foreign Languages, Mrs Edwards. Prior to the visit to France, students were allocated a “pen-pal” whom shared common interests and were of a similar age. Students then corresponded with each other by letter and email to get to know each other better before the exchange.
Our exchange school is Institution Saint Joseph, in Caen. When students arrive at the exchange school, they are met by their “pen-pal” family whom they live with for the week of the exchange, whilst meeting up throughout the week with all from our school and the exchange school on trips out. It is a really good experience to witness different cultures and to try new things, whether that be learning more French or trying the French food!
