St Joseph's RC High School

St Joseph's RC High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
and young people and, expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment

Our preparations for the transition from Primary to Secondary school begin early in Year 6. We have a specialist KS2/KS3 Transition Co-ordinator, Mrs Durkin who assists the transition of children from primary to secondary school and organises activities and induction events to help you and your child settle into St. Joseph’s. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Durkin on the dedicated Transition email address. You can also email office@st-josephs.bolton.sch.uk if you have any questions over the summer.

On their Induction Days, the new intake join together for the first time as a whole year group.  The students are introduced to their Head of Year, their Form Tutors and their new peers. The children visit when the rest of the school is in session for two days.  The purpose of this is to provide a flavour of daily life here. They will dine in the main hall at lunchtime and will travel on the normal school buses. There are opportunities to sample lessons and to spend time with their form tutors. Some students will have also had regular contact with the school if they are involved in the nurture group.

We hold meetings with parents and carers throughout the transition process to inform them a little more about St Joseph’s and to introduce the Year 7 Head of Year and the seven form tutors within the Year 7 Pastoral Team.  In the meantime, to find out more about our school please tune into our Special Y6 YouTube channel playlist and be welcomed into our community. We are extremely proud of our strong links with parents and we hope that you and your child have an enjoyable five years with us.
