The Department of ALN, in line with the School Ethos and Mission Statement has a very strong partnership with our parents and community.
We firmly believe that close relationships between parents and the school are in the best interest of our students. We operate an ‘open door’ policy at St. Joseph’s for parents to come into school to discuss any aspect of their child’s development. This close liaison between home and school is one of the foundations upon which the success of St. Joseph’s rests.
The Department of Additional Learning Needs recently processed an evaluation form sent home to parents of students who had benefited from the ALN staff and department. Below are some quotations from the evaluations:
“I have been very impressed with the support and help we have received. The school is very positive, approachable and caring.” Parent of a Year 7 Student
“Thank you for the excellent, professional and caring way that my son is supported.” Parent of a Year 9 Student
“He has become far more confident about school.” Parent of a Year 7 Student
“The school appear genuinely concerned about my son and his overall well-being which we truly appreciate.” Parent of a Year 9 Student
“The TAs have been exceptional throughout my child’s time at St Joseph’s. Their dedication has been exceptional and are a credit to the school.” Parent of a Year 9 Student
“He feels safe and knows that there are people to support him. He is able to achieve academically and his stress levels are low.” Parent of a Year 8 Student
As a school, we are working towards the Leading Parent Partnership Award. This is a nationally recognised award to promote effective collaborative relationships between parents and schools.
